BASAA Summer Series
BASAA Summer Series
We are excited to announce that we are hosting a BASAA Summer Series! Since we were not able to host our Annual Spring Conference, we wanted to provide a new platform for professional development and find another way to engage with our community. As we go into this unique summer, we decided to create an opportunity for our members to connect and learn from one another.

A Strengths-based Perspective to Thriving in a Teleworking Environment
This presentation will benefit those international educators who are currently working remotely. The six steps to successful teleworking will be discussed in detail and practical takeaways will be provided. Audience members will be encouraged to share their own best practices from their personal experience during the Covid-19 pandemic via facilitated breakouts. Additionally, from the lens of the CliftonStrengths, the positive psychology concepts of engagement, meaning and purpose and accomplishment as they occur in a virtual work life will be unpacked.
It is strongly recommended that you take the CliftonStrengths test before the session. You can take the test on the Gallup website or inquire at your institution if they have an account. Limited discount codes are available. Please contact Melissa at email@example.com for a discount code.

Prioritizing International Education in 2020: Showcasing Your Value During An Age of Uncertainty
Zachary Macinnes & Ellie Koewler
There is a new myth bubbling up in higher education that if no students are studying abroad, then there is no work for the education abroad office. This, coupled with a growing tide of spending freezes, budget cuts, and staffing reductions, makes for a stressful, uncertain period in our field’s history. Through practical tips and interactive discussion, this session will highlight strategies to showcase your value, advocate for your department, and build creative capacity in the face of resource scarcity. We will get through this time together!
