Community Engagement Task Force Update

In 2015, BASAA partnered with the Boston Public Schools and created the Community Engagement Task Force to support the district’s global education initiatives. The central mission of the Department of Global Education is to increase the quality and number of international experiences for all BPS students.  Most recently the Department welcomed a new director, Brittany Wheaton Calloway, who serves as the primary advisor for the Community Engagement Task Force.

While the Task Force supports BPS/Department of Global Education efforts such as policy review, fundraising, public relations, professional development, etc., we are currently seeking volunteers to help with the first ever BPS Youth Summit on Global Education.  Next May, BPS and the Department of Global Education hope to convene hundreds of students to engage in an interactive program that emphasizes global citizenship and innovation.  Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in workshops, collaborative sessions and more.  BASAA is thrilled to be involved in this exciting event!  If you are interested in learning more about the Community Engagement Task Force and/or becoming a volunteer for the BPS Youth Summit, please contact the current Task Force Chair, Kathleen Head at Kathleen.head@mcphs.edu.
